WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina -- Athletics Director Bill Hayes of WSSU says one of the toughest things he has to do is find football opponents.
After talking with him briefly on Sunday afternoon he said that the Rams’ schedule is set for this fall but it wasn’t easy to get a completed schedule. The Rams will open on Sept. 5 (a Thursday night) at UNC Pembroke, and then will play a home game against the University of Virginia of Lynchburg on Sept. 14.
After that, the Rams will once again play in the Cleveland Classic against Tuskegee. The Rams rolled over Morehouse in the Cleveland Classic last year and because the WSSU fans traveled there in droves officials for the Cleveland Classic wanted WSSU back again.
“We tried to get an opponent for that second week of the season and just couldn’t find anybody who would play us,” Hayes said.
