Ceiling is 'high' for Florida A&M Rattler LB Ducree

TALLAHASSEE, Florida -- Linebacker Michael Ducree took one look at last season’s statistical leaders in the MEAC, then set his goal to make at least 10 tackles per game in his final season at FAMU.

He came close in his first game against Mississippi Valley State, finishing with eight tackles. That is 1.8 tackles fewer than Howard’s Julien David, who led the league in tackles last season.

Elaborating on his reason for wanting to be the best tackler in the conference, Ducree said he’s trying to make sure that he isn’t overlooked in his senior year.

“The last couple of years we’ve had some pretty big players here and I was sort of in the shadow,” he said. “(Brandon) Hepburn was drafted by the (Detroit) Lions this year and I was like the little brother to him so now it’s time to fill his shoes.
