CHARLOTTE, North Carolina -- When Texas-San Antonio played its first football game in school history in 2011, the Roadrunners beat Northeastern (Okla.) State 31-3 in front of a crowd of 56,743 at the Alamodome.
The following week, UTSA played Division III McMurry (Tex.).
The result of that game, a 24-21 McMurry victory, hasn’t gone unnoticed by the Charlotte 49ers.
It’s been four days since Charlotte beat Campbell 52-7 in the 49ers’ first-ever game. The outcome was the product of nearly two years of focusing on one game by Charlotte’s coaches and players.
Now, however, the 49ers have another team for which to get ready, and they have inside of a week to do so: the CIAA’s Chowan Hawks, a Division II team coming to Richardson Stadium on Saturday.
