MONTGOMERY, Alabama -- The Alabama State football team wrapped up the first week of spring practice with a spirited session Friday afternoon at Hornet Stadium.
The intensity level always rises when practice turns physical, and that was the case under very spring-like conditions.
"I was encouraged by the excitement and energy the guys had for being out here," head coach Reggie Barlow said. "Obviously, from a football standpoint, there are a lot of things we need to clean up as we move through practice. With the energy level being high, we've seen that a lot of players have retained information. We look forward to building on it and getting better next week."
Among the key elements of the first week of spring has been the emphasis placed on individual skills development at every position.
"During the season, there's not a lot of time to do a lot of individual position work," Barlow said. "Right now, it's about building on that foundation of skills development, and it's important our players understand we're going to give them all the individual time they
need to develop. Then, we want them to carry that over into the summer and fall."
