SAVANNAH, Georgia -- The Savannah State football team will open spring practice on March 10 at 5:45 a.m. The squad will have 15 practices that will end on April 12 with the annual Orange and Blue Scrimmage as well as an alumni flag football game.
All weekday practices will be from 5:45 a.m.-7:45 a.m. The team will practice is shells on March 10, 12 and 13.
The university will have spring break March 17-21 and the team will resume practice on March 24 in full pads.
The first scrimmage will be March 29. The Tigers will practice on March 10, 12, 13, 24, 26, 28, 29 and 31. April practice dates are April, 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11 and 12.
Wilson was hired in June of 2013, so this will be his first spring practice with the Tigers.
The team lost a dozen seniors off last year's 1-11 squad.
One expected battle will be at the quarterback position. Antonio Bostick graduated after passing for 1,397 yards and 11 touchdowns but expected to return are Leon Prunty, Zach Hutcheson and Victorian Hardison.
Mid-year transfers Tino Smith and Kersean Wilson are already enrolled in school and are expected to participate in spring drills. High school recruit Michael Knox, who signed in February, will join the team over the summer.
