SCSU: Pough happy with progress after scrimmage

ORANGEBURG, South Carolina -- As the S.C. State Bulldogs neared the halfway point of spring drills with the conclusion of Saturday morning’s scrimmage at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium, head coach Buddy Pough said he saw enough to remain upbeat.

“I think we have some guys that can make some plays, Pough said. “We have some guys that understand they can take a chance out there. When you have some experience, and some high-level quality guys returning they have a little bit better confidence level, so they’ll try some things you might not see with some younger guys, so I’m excited about the level of experience we have. We have some guys that should be able to make some plays.”



Saturday’s 90-minute scrimmage focused mostly on S.C. State’s underclassmen. Aside from rising junior quarterback Adrian Kollock Jr., who saw most of the snaps at quarterback, many of the Bulldogs’ regulars spent a significant amount of time off the field.

Rising junior Javon Hargrave, the reigning MEAC Defensive Player of the Year, did not dress, watching from the defensive sidelines in sweats.
