JACKSON, Mississippi -- The Jackson State University football coaching staff hosted the third annual Gridiron Gals Football Clinic on Saturday, May 16.
This was the second year that the program was under the direction of head coach Harold Jackson and he was very excited about this year’s clinic. “We want them to know that they are a part of this team and we need their support.”
About 70 ladies participated in the two part clinic. The first part was clinical where the women learned basic principles of football from the Tiger coaching staff in a classroom setting. They learned the different positions for both offense and defense and dove into rules and regulation of the game. The second part of the day took place on the field where the Gridiron Gals were able to put into action the things that they learned earlier in the day.
“We were really happy with the turnout this year,” said organizer Franshell Fort. “We will definitely need a few more buses next year.”
