Ervin Mitchell commits to Grambling State University to play men's basketball for the Tigers |
Mitchell leaves Genesee as the all-time leading scorer with 1,476 career points. He became the 10th player in school history to reach 1,000 points and took over the scoring record on Feb. 28. Mitchell received National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American honors this past season as a sophomore and was named to the All-Region III First Team in both his freshman and sophomore seasons.
The Brooklyn native was a part of 46 wins during his two seasons at GCC and helped lead the Cougars to a Region III title and a trip to the NJCAA National Tournament this season, both a first since 2002-2003.
Grambling State is a Division I member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in Grambling, LA. The Tigers are members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and are coached by Shawn Walker, who completed his first season at the helm in 2014-2015.
