RALEIGH, North Carolina -- Winston-Salem State will venture into new territory today, playing a football game on the campus of St. Augustine’s for the first time.
The Falcons and Rams have either played at Durham County Stadium or at a high school stadium in Raleigh in recent years. That won’t be the case with the 1 p.m. game at the George Williams Complex.
“This will be new to us,” coach Kienus Boulware of the Rams said. “It’s a turf-grass field, and it’s been open for a while, but this will be our first time there.”
The stadium has been open since 2011, but the Falcons have taken a lot of their games off campus to accommodate larger crowds. The stadium holds about 2,500, and it’s expected to be a sellout.
The Rams (2-4, 2-1 CIAA) are hoping to continue their run at another CIAA Southern Division title. The four-time defending division champions are trying to get to their fifth straight CIAA championship game.
