SALISBURY, North Carolina — A little luck went a long way for Winston-Salem State on Saturday afternoon.
The Rams held on to beat the determined Livingstone Blue Bears 23-21 on Saturday afternoon, but it wasn’t easy.
With 20 seconds left and the dependable Leo Manzo ready to attempt a 32-yard field goal, it looked as if the Blue Bears were going to break their 12-game losing streak against the Rams. But Manzo, who was 3 of 4 on field goal attempts this season and made a 54-yarder against St. Aug’s two weeks ago, pushed the attempt just right, and the Rams stayed unbeaten in Southern Division play.
How the Rams (4-4, 3-0 Southern Division) even took the lead at 23-21 with less than seven minutes to go involved luck.
Kicker Will Johnson attempted a 30-yard field goal but Livingstone was whistled for roughing the kicker on the missed attempt.
