DAYTONA BEACH — A large homecoming crowd of 9,875 at Daytona Municipal Stadium was treated to fireworks Saturday, as Bethune-Cookman raced past Norfolk State, 59-49.
The Wildcats (6-2, 4-1 MEAC) put on a show all day, posting season highs in points and total offense (589). Quentin Williams led the way with a career-high 374 passing yards and five total touchdowns. Michael Jones eclipsed the century mark in rushing (125 yards) and receiving (103).
“We always want to take what the defense gives us,” B-CU coach Terry Sims said. “Quentin did a good job of finding our playmakers, and the offensive line did a great job creating lanes and giving Quentin time.”
Greg Hankerson helped Norfolk State keep pace, passing for 238 yards and four touchdowns, and adding 88 rushing yards.
B-CU jumped ahead early on Anthony Jordan’s 3-yard touchdown run, followed by a 25-yard score from Williams to Frank Brown.
