WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina -- Juan Gaddy, the father of Marquise Gaddy, said that doctors told the family that the way the Winston-Salem State athletic trainers handled his son’s injury was top notch.
Ian Mushinski, the head athletic trainer at WSSU, and John Lavender, another of the school’s athletic trainers, were at practice Sept. 23 when Marquise was hurt in a tackling drill. The trainers did an exceptional job preparing Gaddy for the EMS team that arrived less than five minutes later, according to Juan Gaddy.
“From the time that the injury happened to the time he was in the hospital there in Winston was so quick,” Juan said.
After extensive discussions with doctors at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, where Marquise was rushed after the accident, Juan Gaddy said the trainers did everything they were supposed to do.
