SIAC Championship draws thousands to Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, Alabama -- Thousands of fans will flock to Montgomery this weekend as the top two teams in the SIAC face off for the title.

Two undefeated teams will meet on Saturday, Nov. 14 at the Cramton Bowl at 6 p.m. in the 2015 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) football championship. The Albany State Golden Rams will take on the Golden Bears of Miles College.

Albany State won its fifth straight game on Nov. 7 when it defeated Fort Valley State 21-17 for the SIAC east division title. Miles College claimed the west division title last Saturday with a 26-23 win over Tuskegee to also nab its fifth consecutive win.

“SIAC has been leading in attendance in the NCAA Division II games for 23 of the last 25 years and they're anticipating around 10,000 people coming to this game so lots of people coming in to have a great time and watch some great football,” said Meg Lewis, Director of Tourism & Special Projects for the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce.

Alabama State University is also playing at home this weekend and geared up for their game against Prairie View A&M with a pep rally Friday night. The game is set for 2 p.m. Saturday at ASU Stadium.
