INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana | The long wait for many teams is officially over as the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced the NCAA Division II football brackets Sunday evening.
But the wait was even longer for the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers as they were off for a week after falling to Miles in the final regular season game.
And the wait became even longer as the brackets were unveiled starting with Super Regions one and four, and finally when Super Region Two was announced the Golden Tigers appeared on the screen as the last team in the bracket.
Tuskegee (8-2) was awarded the sixth seed in the bracket, and will travel to Salisbury (NC) to face SAC champion, and third seeded, Catawba (9-2) at 12 noon (est) on Saturday, November 21.
The Golden Tigers qualified for the playoffs for the third straight season, and will be in the same game as they were in last year against West Georgia although they were the three seed in that game.
Jewell Ratliff, the SIAC Player and Defensive Player of the Year, will lead a defense for the Golden Tigers into North Carolina for the second time this season. The Golden Tigers are among the best in the country defensively, in the top 10 in nine different categories – including leading the nation in defensive touchdowns.
On offense, SIAC second-team selections Dennis Norfleet and Marquel Gardner will lead an offense into the playoff game that is the top scoring offense in the SIAC at 30.3 points per game.
