MONTEVALLO, Alabama – The FAMU Cross Country teams turned in a pair of sizzling performances Saturday at the University of Montevallo Falcon Classic, with the men outclassing the field to finish first, while the women ran a strong fourth on the day.
On the Men’s Side, David Too (24:21.89) and Fedrick Kipyego (24:43.23) finished 1-2 to spark the Rattler contingent, which also had four other performers place in the Top Eight.
Jacob Nkamasiai ran fourth in 24:59.34, with Brian Kiprop (25:00.27) and Festus Kemboi (25:18.67), placing fifth and sixth, while Onesmus Kemboi (25:22.85) rounding out the Rattler sextet in eighth place.
For the FAMU Women, Emmax Kiplagat set the pace for the Rattlers with a third place finish in 18:11.73. Shalet Mitei (11th in 19:01.80) and Nancy Murgor (20th, in 19:29.14), were the other Top 20 finishers.
Also giving chase on Saturday were Mercy Rotich (23rd, 19:32.03), Sharon Kibiwott (45th, 20:34.67) and Fridah Limo (49th, 20:42.43).
