SAN MARCOS, Texas -- The Texas Southern Tigers lost their first game of the season on Saturday with a 36-20 decision versus the Texas State Bobcats but despite the loss the team will take away several positives from the contest.
After being held scoreless in the first half of play TSU's offense came alive in the second half scoring 20 points as quarterback Jay Christophe settled in and found his rhythm throwing for a total of 315 yards and three touchdowns.
Wide receiver Tren'Davian Dickson had a breakout performance for the Tigers as he tallied 7 catches for 159 yards a two touchdowns.

Christophe and Dickson combined for what was arguably the games' most electrifying offensive play of the night on a 75-yard touchdown pass giving TSU its' first score of the night.
Defensively the Tigers flew around the field at multiple positions as a total of four players finished the game with 10 tackles. Matthew Stevenson, Julian Marcantel, Demontario Anderson, and Marquis Walker all helped set the tone for a physical unit that only allowed two offensive touchdowns by the Bobcats.
Texas Southern will travel to face the Alcorn State Braves this weekend in what will be the Tigers second consecutive road outing of the season.
