Women's Basketball Assistant Coach Ronnie Enoch on a Mission to send 100 Pairs of Shoes to CubaNASHVILLE, Tennessee -- Tennessee State University women’s basketball assistant coach Ronnie Enoch is on a mission to send 100 pairs of shoes to Cuba for children in need.

In August, Enoch participated in a mission trip to Cuba where he, along with other coaches, ran basketball camps for the youth in the area.

“My mission trip to Cuba changed my spirit and outlook on life,” said Enoch. “During a basketball clinic, it broke my heart to see kids not having shoes and socks. So when I returned, I asked friends to help me send 100 pairs of shoes & socks to Cuba in October.”

After posting his goal on Twitter, Enoch immediately received and outpouring of support from friends, coaches and businesses. Profeet in Burlington, N.C. donated 100 pairs of socks while The Delta foundation donated 20 basketballs. Coaches and other professionals have contributed shoes and t-shirts.

With only 16 days left in the campaign, Enoch is more than halfway to the shoe goal.

“We need 45 more pairs of tennis shoes to get to 100.”

Individuals interested in making a donation can bring them to the women’s basketball offices, located on the third floor of the Gentry Center before Oct.5.
