SAINT LOUIS, Missouri -- The Hornets surpassed their win record today with their 2-0 win over Presentation College. Today's win put Harris-Stowe State University at 7-2-1 overall.
HSSU and PC finished the first 45 minutes of play with no score, but the Hornets showing potential to strike at any point. HSSU kept Presentation at bay with no shots on goal while the Hornets recorded six shots in the first half.
Torrie Helms (JR/Sikeston, MO) put the Hornets on the board in the 61' of play when she caught a rebound off a Presentation player and netted it in past the Saint's goalie.
Lizette Popoca (SO/Waukegan, Illinois ) got herself a goal today when Paula Ulreich (JR/Munich, Germany ) crossed the ball into the middle of the box and Popoca headed it just outside of PC's goalkeeper to secure the win for the Hornets.
Camila Chaves (SO/Medellin, Colombia) and her defense kept Presentation on the defensive for the majority of the game, limiting them to no shots on goal for the entire game.
Harris-Stowe will be back in action this Friday when they travel across the Mississippi River to take on the Lady Lynx of Lindenwood University-Belleville. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
