MONTGOMERY, Alabama - The Hornets were eager to prove themselves on national television in the season opener, facing Bethune-Cookman in the eighth annual MEAC-SWAC Challenge in a made-for-TV Sunday afternoon matchup.
After giving up 38 unanswered points in a 38-28 loss to the Wildcats on Sept. 2, they’ll get another chance to prove themselves on a national stage in tonight’s Southwestern Athletic Conference showdown with Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Cramton Bowl on ESPNU.
“Every game is a blessing to play,” Alabama State quarterback Greg Jenkins said, “but national TV gives you extra drive to prove yourself, not only to your teammates and the Hornet Nation but to the whole.world.”
Embarrassed by the season opening loss, Alabama State rebounded with wins over Mississippi Valley State and Grambling State, getting a little more in synch with each game.
