CHARLOTTE, North Carolina -- J.C. Smith is moving past the Trevin Parks era.
The Golden Bulls opened their CIAA schedule with a 74-66 win against Lincoln (Pa.) on Wednesday at Brayboy Gym – and in the process signaled they are exceeding preseason expectations. J.C. Smith (8-2, 1-0) doesn’t have a marquee player like Parks, a two-time all-American who graduated in May, but the results have been good.
“It’s definitely a key for us,” said Golden Bulls forward Emilio Parks, who led all scorers with 30 points on 11-of-16 shooting. “We want to send a message that we’re here. We’re in construction over one player. We’re ready and we’re competing.”
