BATON ROUGE, Louisiana -- Southern baseball coach Roger Cador stood near the third-base coach’s box at practice Thursday, reflecting on the emotional scene that took place there just before the season began.It was early February, and Jaguars assistant coach Fernando Puebla delivered the news that the Jaguars had hoped would not become a reality. Puebla, Cador’s consigliore for the past seven years, had to return with his wife and son to his native Venezuela while his attorney continued an ongoing quest to gain a green card for Puebla, who could no longer stay in the U.S., legally.
“It was a sad moment,” said senior first baseman B.J. Rowry, who has known Puebla as long as any player has.
