FAMU stomps Delaware State for homecoming victory

TALLAHASSEE, Florida -- Alex Wood got the first win of his tenure at Florida A&M, but he’s not quite ready to breathe a sigh of relief.

Wood’s Rattlers put together their best performance of the season, stomping Delaware State 41-13 in front of 22,678 homecoming fans on Saturday in Bragg Memorial Stadium.

The defense forced five turnovers and scored a touchdown and the offense put up 374 yards behind quarterback’s Carson Royal’s second strong performance.

Still, Wood knows the Rattlers, now 1-6 after a dismal start to the season, have plenty of work to get done if they’d like the wins to keep coming.

“You can’t have a sigh of relief,” a noticeably upbeat Wood said after the game.
