NEW ORLEANS — Eva Le Guillou on Tuesday became the first Xavier University of Louisiana volleyball student-athlete to win four consecutive Gulf Coast Athletic Conference weekly awards. Le Guillou, a sophomore from Velizy-Villacoublay, France, has won every GCAC Setter of the Week honor of the 2018 season.
Le Guillou had 96 assists (13.71 per set), 17 digs, three aces and two blocks in victories against city rivals Loyola and Dillard. She had a career-high 54 assists in four sets against Dillard. Le Guillou directed an offense that hit a season-high .330 against Loyola, then topped that with .336 against Dillard.
Her seven career awards are No. 2 all-time at XULA in this sport.
Through 15 matches this season, Le Guillou leads XULA with 551 assists and 23 aces. She is fourth with 125 digs and 22 blocks. Nationally, Le Guillou is 15th in the NAIA in assists and 28th with 9.84 assists per set.
The Gold Nuggets (11-4, 2-0) will take a season-best five-match win streak to Little Rock, Ark., for a 1 p.m. Saturday GCAC match against Philander Smith. It will be the first of nine consecutive XULA road matches.
