
It's normal procedure for major college teams to start out with cupcake opponents — college's version of preseason football. They buy a home game, and all the economic benefits it brings, by paying a team from a lower-level conference or division to travel.

Economically, both schools benefit. But the result on the field is often ugly. However, Oklahoma State's 84-0 drubbing of Savannah State in Week 1 brought the ugliness to a new level.
Savannah State followed that beating with a 55-0 weather-shortened loss at Florida State last Saturday. On the same day, another Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference team, Florida A&M, received a healthy paycheck and a 69-13 whipping from Oklahoma.
