Bowie State football team improves to 2-0

COLUMBIA, South Carolina - The Bowie State University football team jumped out to a quick lead in the first half and cruised to a 28-14 victory against Benedict College on Thursday night in Columbia, S.C.

After scoring the winning touchdown with 5.7 seconds left on Saturday in a 24-20 win in its season opener against Assumption College, Bowie State led Benedict 28-0 at the end of the first half on Thursday night. Suitland High School graduate Keith Brown scored three first-half touchdowns on runs of 9, 76 and 8 yards, and Corwin Acker added a 15-yard touchdown run for the Bulldogs (2-0).

Benedict scored both of its touchdowns in the second half on fumble recoveries.The Tigers were listless on offense, as Bowie State outgained them 431-120 in total yards. Benedict managed just 48 yards rushing. Brown, a 5-foot-9, 205-pound redshirt sophomore carried nine times for 130 yards. Acker added 12 carries for 126 yards.
