ELIZABETH CITY, North Carolina - Last November’s bus ride back to campus from California, Pa., covered 450 miles.
Plenty of time for Elizabeth City State defensive end Brad Davis and his teammates to dwell on the 44-0 pounding the Vikings absorbed in a first-round NCAA Division II playoff game.
“There wasn’t much talking, mostly just thinking to yourself,” the 6-1, 245-pound senior said.
“It hurt so bad. It didn’t feel real. It was no way to end the season. It was a big motivator for us to work harder.”
ECSU head coach Waverly Tillar can attest to the fact that the Vikings will be motivated to prove themselves when they open the season Saturday at Newberry College.
