JCSU picked fourth in CIAA South

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina -- Johnson C. Smith is expected to finish near the bottom of the CIAA South in a preseason poll of the league's football coaches. 

The Golden Bulls, who went 6-4 last season and 5-2 in CIAA play, were picked behind two-time champ and national runner-up Winston-Salem State, St. Augustine's and Shaw. JCSU finished second in the South in 2012 by winning its final four games.

“It’s about building a foundation, and we’ve done that, now we have to turn the corner and succeed despite any adversity,” JCSU coach Steve Aycock said. “We’re doing some good things at JCSU, but we will continue to show humility and strive to reach the mountain top.”
