Lonnie Blow, Jr. Head Men's Basketball Coach Virginia State University |
ETTRICK, Virginia -- Virginia State University's new men's basketball head coach will have little trouble learning the CIAA - he already coaches there. This morning, Lonnie Blow Jr. was introduced as the new Trojans coach, leaving fellow CIAA member St. Augustine's University after two years.
"I'm excited that I'm here now and I want to build a successful basketball program that we all can be proud of," Blow said. He compared building a stronger program to cooking a great Sunday dinner.
After 21 years coaching at the high school level, Blow began his college career as an assistant at Hampton University in 2005-06. Since then, he assisted at Norfolk State, served as head coach at St. Augustine's, assisted at Old Dominion then returned to become head coach again at St. Augustine's in Raleigh, NC.
