LEWISVILLE, North Carolina - Nate Long, an incoming freshman at Winston-Salem State, is getting a crash course on playing college basketball.
“It’s more physical than in high school, and there’s a lot of quickness out here,” said Long, a 6-5 wing player from Mount Tabor High School who is playing in the Triad Pro-Am League at Forsyth Country Day for the first time. “I realize what I have to work on if I want to be a successful at the next level.”
Long could get away with a lot in high-school basketball — he usually could bail himself out with his athleticism if he got in trouble. In college, even at the Division II level, he’ll need to be more disciplined.
