MOBILE, Alabama -- The defending SWAC champion Alabama State women's golf team finished in ninth place in the 15-team South Alabama Invitational as the 54-hole even concluded Tuesday.
Alabama State posted a team score of 318 in the 18-hole final round for a tournament score of 937.
Dismary Marquez shot four-over par 76 Tuesday to finish tied for a third with a seven-over 223.
Jenelle Kraakman shot 83 to finish with a three-round total of 239, (77-79), three shots ahead of teammate Sylvia Masango (242). Shanon Spinuzzi and Mia Campbell each shot 245 for Alabama State.
"Our women's program played closer to their potential and I was pleased with their overall performance," head coach Dr. Gary Grandison said. "If we focus on the many learning experiences from this tournament, we should continue to develop as a team."
Both the women's and men's teams will be in action Monday in the SWAC Texas Open in Alexandria, La.
