JACKSON, Mississippi -- The Jackson State football program added two more standouts to its 2014 recruiting class. The Tigers strengthened themselves on the offensive side of the ball in signing Robert Johnson and Romello Shumake. Both players bios and highlight films are below.
Robert Johnson RB 6-2 190
Terry, Miss. (Terry High School)
HighlightsThe 6-2 190-pound running back accumulated 1482 rushing yards, 9.75 rushing yards per carry, 82.3 rushing yards per game, eleven touchdowns, and 13 total touchdowns over a two-year playing span... He helped Terry High to a 5-6 overall record and a 3-4 league record during his season… As a senior he had 144 carries for 1453 yards and 11 TDs… His long run of the season was 74 yards … he also played basketball at Terry HS and averaged 6 ppg.
Romello Shumake WR 5-10 165
Lithonia, Ga. (Martin Luther King, Jr.)
Shumake is considered a 2-star prospect by 247Sports and Rivals.com… Has the ability to stretch the field with his speed… During his junior season he helped lead MLK to an 11-1 record and a 9-0 league mark… As a senior the MLK Lions went 7-4 and 6-3 in league play… Recorded 30 receiving touchdowns during his high school career… He was named to the Metro Atlanta High School All-Star Game.
