Southern picked to finish second in the SWAC West Division

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana  --  Despite having a new head coach and coming off a 4-7 season in 2012, the Southern Jaguars were picked to finish second in the Southwestern Athletic Conference West Division in voting released by the conference Monday at its annual football media day.
Grambling, which went 1-10 last season, was picked fourth in the five-team West Division. Voting was done by SWAC coaches, sports information directors and select members of the media.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff, the 2012 SWAC champion, was picked to win the West once again. UAPB got 105 points and 14 first-place votes to 88 points and six first-place votes for Southern.

Grambling had 51 points and one first-place vote.
Alabama State, which has tied for first in the East Division the last three seasons, was picked first again. There were no selections for overall SWAC champion.
