Alabama State rode the hot hand of sophomore Assunta Fulgham to claim a 67-58 Southwestern Athletic Conference win over Texas Southern on Saturday afternoon at the Acadome. Fulgham scored the first basket of the game and accounted for six of her team's first 10 points en route to a 24-point performance for ASU (7-12, 3-5 SWAC), which led 33-32 at halftime.
Just before the half, TSU had a pair of 3-pointers followed by a layup by Ashlee Norwood to take its only lead of the game, 32-31. But again, Fulgham answered by breaking free for a wide-open layup to produce the one-point ASU lead.
