Virginia Union's Holland takes three, Panthers get five CIAA weekly awards

RICHMOND, Virginia -- Virginia Union freshman running back Hakeem Holland was named the CIAA offensive back of the week, special teams player of the week and rookie of the week, all for his performance in the Panthers' 66-27 win over Lincoln (Pa.) last Saturday.

Holland accumulated 401 all-purpose yards last week. He carried the ball 16 times for 186 yards and three touchdowns, returned four kicks for 173 yards (including returning the opening kick 93 yards for a touchdown) and caught two passes for 42 yards.

Two Panther linemen also received player of the week nods. Senior Dahon Taylor was named the league’s offensive lineman of the week while Paulin Miano received defensive lineman of the week. Milano recorded nine tackles (six for loss) and two sacks while Taylor led an offensive line that allowed Union to accumulate 534-yard of total offense, the fourth-most in program history.
