Alcorn Braves' offense looking for more

LORMAN, Mississippi -- Fred Kaiss is six games into his tenure as Alcorn State’s offensive coordinator.

His offense is cranking out 37.8 points per game, which would be great for most teams.

But given the caliber of offenses, such as Southern and Prairie View A&M, the Braves have coming up on their schedule, their point total isn’t enough to satisfy the hunger of their first-year offensive coordinator.

“I want to see us score more. Thirty-four points (against Grambling) is OK, but that’s not us,” Kaiss said. “When we start fast and have 28 points (in the first half), 34 is not good enough. We have to score more, and we’re very capable.”

Last season under the direction of coordinator Willie Simmons, who is now the head coach at Prairie View A&M, the Braves ranked second and fifth in scoring and rushing offense, respectively, in the FCS.
