BULLDOG STOCK RISING! MEAC win keeps S.C. State football among frontrunners in conference play
ORANGEBURG, South Carolina -- Saturday afternoon gave the South Carolina State football team a clearer picture of how this season could turn out for the Bulldogs program.
Not only did S.C. State get scoring from all three units (defense, offense and special teams, in that order) to win a 49-10 game against visiting Howard, but North Carolina A&T held off Bethune-Cookman in another Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference contest.
N.C. A&T getting a 24-14 home win against B-C gave the visitors their first loss in MEAC play. Now, 10 of the 11 teams in conference play have at least one conference loss.
S.C. State is among those 10, holding a 3-3 overall record and a 1-1 MEAC record. N.C. A&T, the last unbeaten in conference play to this point, will come to play the Bulldogs in Orangeburg on Nov. 7. Currently, with N.C. A&T alone at No. 1 in the MEAC standings, S.C. State is tied for fourth place with N.C. Central and Norfolk State (a team the Bulldogs will play in Virginia on Nov. 14).
