WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina -- With so many new players on the Winston-Salem State roster, getting a first-hand look at Ram Madness at a filled-up Gaines Center on Wednesday night should have been good preparation.
The Rams open practice today, but before they get to work they got a glimpse of what it can be like in January and February during the heat of the CIAA season.
“It’s pretty crazy in there,” said Keith Armstrong, a graduate of East Carolina who transferred to WSSU and will play his final season at the Gaines Center. “I can’t believe there is this many students here.”
Armstrong, a 6-foot-8 forward from Raleigh, will make an immediate impact for coach James Wilhelmi, who has 10 new players on his 13-man roster.
Before Armstrong and the rest of the Rams were introduced, they waited in the lobby of the Gaines Center.
