HU knocks Morgan State from ranks of MEAC unbeaten

BATIMORE, Maryland -- Hampton University registered its most notable victory of the football season Saturday, winning 20-10 over Morgan State in Baltimore.

HU (4-3, 3-2) knocked Morgan State (3-3, 3-1) out of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's unbeaten ranks.

Peninsula-grown players accounted for HU's first two touchdowns, which produced a 14-0 lead. Hampton High graduate David Watford connected with Bethel product Rashawn Proctor on an 80-yard touchdown pass for a 7-0 edge.

With the Bears threatening to tie the score, they fumbled on fourth-and-2. HU defensive back Darius Banks, a sophomore from Denbigh High, scooped it and ran 83 yards into the end zone for a 14-0 margin.

After a Morgan State field goal, HU's Adam Brown kicked a 33-yard field goal for a 17-3 halftime lead.
