JACKSON, Mississippi -- This is the best group of players Wayne Brent has entered a season with as Jackson State’s coach, if you ask him.He isn’t afraid to let you know how he feels about his coaching staff either.
“This is by far my best group of coaches coming together and doing what I want them to do,” Brent said.
Assistant coaches Cason Burk, De’Suan Dixon and Ben Walker, along with Brent, comprise an energetic staff that hasn’t been afraid to turn up the intensity on players during practice as the team prepares for the start of the season.
“We are a very,very aggressive unit. We’re an extremely aggressive staff — all of us have played Division I basketball and all of us have won at a Division I level,” Walker said. “So we’re extremely aggressive and extremely passionate about this program and our players and wanting to see them succeed.
“So that’s the pressure we as coaches have. Every morning we have to bring it. If we bring it, then it feeds off to the players.”
