N.C. A&T football notebook: Homecoming still the game that matters to first-place Aggies

GREENSBORO, North Carolina -- N.C. A&T’s football team has won four games in a row and is alone at the top of the MEAC standings.

The Aggies (5-1, 3-0 MEAC) have won eight straight league games at home dating to 2013. A&T is 20-4 at Aggie Stadium since hiring Rod Broadway as head coach in 2011.

But the record that really matters is this one:  Broadway’s teams are 4-0 on homecoming.

That’s a big deal, especially considering the proud program had lost seven homecoming games in a row before Broadway’s arrival. And losing puts a serious damper on the most important weekend of A&T’s school year.

Crews had already begun assembling temporary fencing around War Memorial Stadium on Monday morning, the site of Aggie FanFest, which will draw more than 40,000 people on homecoming weekend according to the city’s Parks & Recreation department.
