NORFOLK, Virginia -- As predicted, having two weeks to stew on a lopsided conference loss turned out to be less than fun for Norfolk State coach Latrell Scott and his players.
Next comes the business of replacing the feeling with a better one.
The Spartans (2-4, 2-1 MEAC) had an open date after falling 27-3 to North Carolina A&T on Oct. 10, after which Scott expressed dread for the upcoming downtime.
While shoring up fundamentals and working on establishing a rushing game last week, Scott and his players thought about what happened the last time they took the field.
"It's tough, because what you expect is to be able to be 3-3 and 3-0 in the conference," Scott said. "Just to not have that happen is disappointing."
A chance for redemption comes Saturday, when NSU travels to Daytona Beach, Fla., to visit Bethune-Cookman (5-2, 3-1), a 24-14 loser to first-place N.C. A&T last week.
