JACKSON, Mississippi -- A mid-season coaching change made no impact on turning Jackson State's season around.The Tigers (1-5, 1-3 SWAC) play host to Arkansas Pine Bluff at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium in another critical league contest.
The switch from former head coach Harold Jackson to assistant coach Derrick McCall didn't give Jackson State the boost many expected.
Quarterback LaMontiez Ivy left the game late in the third quarter with a leg injury. His status is unknown for Saturday's game. Before the injury, Ivy passed for 239 yards and a touchdown, completing 20-of-27 pass attempts. He also rushed for a game-high 75 yards.
Mississippi Valley State at Grambling, 2 p.m.: The road remains difficult for the Delta Devils (0-6, 0-4) to record their first win of 2015. Nothing has worked for the Delta Devils, especially playing three quarterbacks. Valley faces a high-powered Grambling team that could win the Western Division title and reach the SWAC title game at Houston's NRG Stadium on Dec. 5. Grambling defeated Alcorn State 35-34 last week.
