Whether Alcorn State or the Patriots, GSU will prepare the same

The message was clear and concise — the Tigers spend the same amount of time focusing on each opponent. Last week is irrelevant as is the following week.

That is until sophomore Martez Carter stepped in front of the microphone.

“I feel like that’s a disrespect. Last year they came out and they stepped on the ‘G.’ That’s disrespect,” Carter said Monday, referring to Alcorn State. “Somebody gotta pay for it. You can’t come into town and then invite us over there and disrespect us in the same manner. It’s going to be big.”

It’s unclear how serious Carter was acting — his words came after senior defensive back Nicholas Peoples abruptly stepped in to make a few comments about Carter — but it was a refreshing change from what the coaches were touting.
