ORANGEBURG, South Carolina -- The South Carolina State Bulldogs football team scored early, often and in nearly every possible way on Saturday afternoon.
The result was a 49-10 MEAC win against Howard on Willie E. Jeffries Field at Oliver C. Dawson Bulldog Stadium in front of 16,033 fans.
In two recent losses at Furman and at Bethune-Cookman, the Bulldogs had held both teams to just 17 points. But a sputtering offense and too many team penalties led to back-to-back losses.
On Saturday, S.C. State got points from the offense, defense and special teams units. The win moved the Bulldogs to 3-3 overall, 2-1 in MEAC play, while the Bison fell to 0-6 overall, 0-4 in MEAC play.
S.C. State will play next on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Delaware State in another MEAC contest.
